Introduction of Fiber Optic PLC Splitter

Fused Biconical Taper (FBT) is used for splitting or combining optical signals.  

The splitting or coupling ratio is controlled and can be modified upon costumer

request as well as the amount of splitting ports.  

The FBT coupler supports dicrete wavelength window.


FBT Coupler has three key advantages shown as below:Low Loss Process:

Ther fiber coupling is a low-loss process, in fact, there is no loss during the

conversion from core mode to coupling mode and back to core mode. Hence,

we have to account for losses caused by light propagation through a short

cladding length. However, the insertion loss of an assembled coupler is rather

high and depends on the coupling ratio. No Back Reflection: Light never

leaves the fiber structure during the coupling process so it never encounters

any interface. Thus, this type of coupler is intrinsically free from back

reflection. In fact, data sheets for this type of coupler do not include this

specification. Easy Connectorizing: Since FBT couplers are made from

regular fiber, connectorizing an FBT coupler with a transmission fiber

is an easy, low-loss procedure.
